Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • OR 1/2 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Pillsbury BEST™ All Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/2 cups (9 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans, divided
Preparation Directions
  • Step 1Heat oven to 350ºF. Lightly coat an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan with no-stick cooking spray.
  • Step 2Combine shortening, sugar, egg, milk, salt and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.
  • Step 3Mix in flour at low speed. Stir in 3/4 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup nuts. Spread in pan.
  • Step 4Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup chocolate chips. Wait 5 minutes, or until chips soften. Spread evenly. Sprinkle 1/4 cup nuts over top, if desired. Cool in pan on cooling rack. Cut into 2 x 2-inch squares.
