Ingredients
COOKIES
  • Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 1/2 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • OR 1/2 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups Pillsbury BEST™ All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
FROSTING
  • 1/2 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • OR 1/2 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 pound powdered sugar, about 4 cups
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Few drops food coloring, if desired
Preparation Directions
  • Step 1Heat oven to 375°F. Spray baking sheets with no-stick cooking spray.
  • Step 2Combine 1⁄2 cup shortening, sugar and milk in large bowl; beat at medium speed until well blended. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  • Step 3Combine flour, salt and baking powder in medium bowl. Beat into shortening mixture at low speed until well blended. Drop level measuring tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.
  • Step 4Bake 7 to 9 minutes. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets; transfer to cooling racks to cool completely.
FROSTING
  • Step 1Combine shortening, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract in large bowl; beat at low speed 15 seconds. Scrape bowl.
  • Step 2Beat at high speed 2 minutes, or until smooth and creamy. Tint frosting to desired shade with food coloring if using. Frost cookies.
