Preparation Directions
  • Step 1Heat oven to 350°F. Line 4 muffin cups with foil baking cups. Coat 8 x 4-inch loaf pan with no-stick cooking spray. Dust with flour. Prepare devil's food cake mix according to package directions using water, oil and eggs. Fill prepared muffin cups 2/3 full. Spread remaining batter in prepared loaf pan. Bake cupcakes 19 to 23 minutes and loaf cake 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pans to wire rack to cool completely.
  • Step 2Coat 3 (8-inch) square baking pans with no-stick cooking spray. Dust with flour. Prepare blue and yellow cake mixes according to package directions using water, oil and egg whites. Spread in prepared pans. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pans to wire rack to cool completely.
  • Step 3Fill large decorating bag fitted with star tip with 1 can blue frosting. Level square cake layers as necessary. Center 1 blue cake, rounded side down, over 18-inch square platter. Position cake so that one edge is 2 inches from edge of platter. Frost top of cake with 1/3 cup yellow frosting. Top with yellow cake layer. Spread with 1/3 cup yellow frosting. Top with remaining blue cake layer. Pipe small stars of blue frosting to cover entire cake.
  • Step 4Top square cake with loaf cake, top of loaf cake facing front. Pipe small stars of yellow frosting to cover entire cake, adding additional yellow frosting to decorating bag as needed.
  • Step 5Press 2 chocolate cookies, standing on side edges, on front of square cake, to begin forming robot legs. Pipe yellow frosting onto 2 more cookies. Press to attach to existing cookies. Repeat 3 times to complete legs. Position 1 cupcake at the end of each leg. Frost cupcakes with yellow frosting, as desired.
  • Step 6Frost tops of 8 sandwich cookies with yellow frosting. Position 1 cookie on each side of square cake to begin forming robot arms. Stack 3 additional frosted cookies on top of each base cookie. Top each stack with a frosted cupcake. Decorate robot with various candies to resemble a robot.
